Connect to SQL Server with DBeaver
Step-by-step tutorial on connecting to SQL Server with DBeaver.
Once you’ve installed DBeaver, you’ll probably want to connect to a database. below are instructions for connecting to SQL Server using DBeaver on a Mac.
Note that, although this tutorial uses SQL Server, DBeaver supports many different database management systems.
Launch DBeaver
Click on the DBeaver icon (either in your Launchpad or the Applications folder) to launch the DBeaver application.
Launch the New Connection Wizard
If this is the first time you’ve launched DBeaver, you’ll probably be prompted with the Create new connection dialog.
Expand the SQL Server node, select jTDS driver , and click Next > .
For this tutorial I selected jTDS driver , but by all means select another driver if you prefer.
If the Create new connection wizard doesn’t automatically appear when you open DBeaver, go to Database > New Connection to initiate this wizard.
Enter Connection Settings
Enter the connection settings for the SQL Server instance that you’d like to connect to.
If the SQL Server instance is running on your local machine, use localhost .
Also click Test Connection to see if there are going to be any problems with the connection or not.
Download Driver Files (if required)
The connection wizard will tell you if you need to download any driver files. If you do, select the file/s and click Download .
Success Dialog Box
Once the driver has downloaded, a Success dialog is displayed. Click OK .
This dialog box would have appeared at the previous step if you didn’t need to download a driver.
Continue with the Connection
Now that the driver has been downloaded, click Next > to continue with the connection.
Network Settings
This step gives you the option of entering any network settings that are required to access the SQL Server.
In this case, the SQL Server is running locally, so leave the default settings and click Next > .
Finish
Change any settings as required. For this tutorial, I left them all at the default settings.
How to configure DBeaver to connect with ms sql server

So, we had the same problem. I don’t if this will still help you, I just found your question. And to solve my problem, I searched the web as well, but unfortunately, did not find a solution (at least in my quick search). So, what I did to solve it, I was just winging it. Hope you’ll be able to reproduce this.
Step 1. Run dbeaver
Step 2. Select new connection type, in your case, MS SQL Server -> Microsoft Driver -> Next.
Step 3. When I did my config, the JDBC URL , Port , and Host were already filled out. So, what you’ll be just doing here is to enter your User name and Password for SQL Server. Then, click Test Connection . You’ll be prompted to download the drivers, do it.
Step 4. I did not do anything here. Just click Next
Step 5. I just clicked Finish here.
Step 6. You’re done, you should see the DBeaver — General Window. You can now access your SQL Server.
How to use DBeaver to connect to SQL Server? The server SQLEXPRESS is not configured to listen with TCP/IP
I am trying to use DBeaver (7.3.2) in Window to connect to my SQL Server 2019 Express in the same machine. In my SQL Server 2019 Express, I have a sample Northwind database loaded successfully. I have tested the connection in SQL Server 2019 using sa user and no issue.

I have checked SQL Server Configuration Manager > SQL Server Network Configuration and enable TCP/IP. And under SQL Native Client 11.0 Configuration > Client Protocols , the TCP/IP default port is 1433.

Back to DBeaver, when I click Test Connection , I got the error
The server SQLEXPRESS is not configured to listen with TCP/IP.

After enabling TCP/IP, you have to find out which port number to use. SQL Server Express allocates a port dynamically each time it is started, so to find or configure the port number, continue using SQL Server Configuration Manager …
Select Properties from the TCP/IP context menu. The TCP/IP Properties dialog should open. Select the IP Addresses tab. In the IPAll node … The TCP Dynamic Ports field shows the currently used port number. If you set that field to blank, then SQL Server Express should not automatically choose another port when it restarts. Set the desired port number in the TCP Port field. Press OK to apply your settings and close the dialog.
Dbeaver как подключиться к базе sql server
DBeaver allows you to work with all popular databases. The first thing you have to do is to create a connection. Our app provides a wizard that guides you through the steps to do it.

To open a wizard, click on the plug icon in the upper left corner of the application window or go to Database -> New Database Сonnection. The database selection window will open and you will see a list from which you can choose the driver you need.
You have a large selection of databases to connect to. Pay attention to the tabs on the left side of the window. Click on them to choose All, Popular, SQL, NoSQL, Analytical databases, etc. The Popular tab includes the database drivers you use most regularly.
You can use these tabs for easy navigation or just type the first few characters of the database driver’s name into the search box. If you cannot find a driver for your database in the list, you can add it manually using a JDBC-driver that is compatible with your database.
Set up a connection
Let’s take PostgreSQL as an example. Click on it. The connection settings window will open. Let’s take a look at the points that are the most important.
On the main tab, you need to set all primary connection settings. For most drivers, the required settings include Host, Port, Database name, Username, and Password. But it should be noted that the number of properties depends directly on the driver.

Each driver has its own set of additional properties, which you can see by opening the corresponding tab. You can also edit properties there. In the lower right part of the window, you can see a link to the driver documentation. Click on it to get information about available properties and their values. Please note that this option is not available for all drivers.
If your database cannot be accessed directly, you can use an SSH tunnel. All settings are available on the corresponding tab. Our app supports the following authentication methods: user/password, public key authentication, and agent authentication. For more information about SSH configuration visit the Wiki page.

If the driver is not pre-configured
With DBeaver, you can not only use a pre-configured database driver but also create a new one based on the JDBC driver. To do that, go to Database -> Driver Manager. Click the New button and create a driver. On the driver edit dialog, you need to enter all required information and click the OK button. You can find more information about creating drivers in our Wiki.

If you cannot find your particular database in the list but you know it is based on other well-known database or compatible with some existing driver (for example, old Postgres driver), feel free to use this driver to create a connection.
Connecting to some databases like Oracle, MS SQL Server or Redshift can require additional effort. We will definitely talk about these in our next tutorials.
