Несмотря на то что Samsung всегда делала классные флагманские смартфоны, с бюджетниками у неё дела с самого начала шли откровенно так себе. Не то чтобы их было мало в ассортименте компании, скорее, даже наоборот. Однако долгое время они были настолько безликими и безынтересными с точки зрения возможностей, что покупать их большинству мало-мальски понимающих пользователей не хотелось. Всё это привело к тому, что Samsung стала сдавать свои позиции китайским брендам, уловившим всеобщую заинтересованность в недорогих, но функциональных аппаратах, пока не опомнилась и не провела ревизию линейки Galaxy A, которая получила своё первое обновление.

В конце прошлого года Samsung презентовала смартфон Galaxy A51, который оказался продолжателем идей, вложенных в Galaxy A50. Именно он, если помните, стал самым популярным смартфоном в России. И, надо сказать, было за что. Несмотря на ряд компромиссов, на которые пошли корейцы, им удалось создать сбалансированный смартфон, способный привлечь широкую аудиторию пользователей сочетанием обширной функциональности и невысокой цены. Galaxy A51, как и подобает преемнику, стал во всём лучше. Разбираемся, чем новинка отличается от своего предшественника, тем более что теперь её можно купить и в России.
Чем Galaxy A51 отличается от A50
Galaxy A51 выглядит дороже, чем есть на самом деле
Прежде всего это, конечно, дизайн. Samsung фактически перерисовала внешний вид новинки, которую выполнила в стилистике ещё не вышедших флагманов 2020 года. Объектив фронтальной камеры посередине, который прежде применялся только в Galaxy Note 10, а также прямоугольный блок основной камеры, состоящей из четырёх модулей, явно играет Galaxy A51 на руку. Кроме того, Samsung удалось уменьшить рамки по периметру дисплея, за счёт чего его диагональ выросла до 6,5 дюймов. В целом же внешне аппарат выглядит гораздо дороже, чем стоит.
Я неслучайно написал «выглядит» вместо «ощущается», потому что по тактильным ощущениям, которые дарит смартфон, A51 остался примерно на уровне A50. Samsung решила сохранить пластиковый корпус, разве что слегка разукрасив заднюю панель нечётко проявляющимся орнаментом из геометрических фигур. Они сделали аппарат привлекательнее, чем был его предшественник, но по большому счёту, учитывая остальные элементы редизайна, можно было обойтись и без этого.

В этом году Galaxy A51 получил четвёртую камеру
Апгрейд основной камеры, получившей дополнительный, четвёртый, модуль, на этом не заканчивается. Корейцы подкрутили разрешающую способность основной камеры, доведя её до уровня современных аппаратов – 48 Мп. Правда, рассчитывать, что это сильно повлияет на качество фото, явно не стоит. Впрочем, даже A50 фотографировал вполне сносно, а A51 в этом плане будет как минимум не хуже. Тем более, что акцент сам производитель делает на появившемся макро-модуле, с помощью которого можно делать снимки мелких объектов с близкого расстояния. А вот ToF-сенсор, как во флагманах, не завезли. Видимо, тогда получилось бы слишком дорого.

С железом ничего примечательного: процессор Exynos 9611, 4/6 ГБ оперативки и 64/128 ГБ встроенной памяти. Но это и неважно. Зато важна цена, по которой A51 привезли в Россию, а это – всего 19 990 рублей за базовую версию и 22 990 рублей за топовую. Впрочем, лично я бы не стал переплачивать и взял Galaxy A51 в базе, ведь сегодня все аппараты в этом ценовом сегменте работают плюс-минус одинаково – не верю, что говорю это – независимо от объёма оперативной памяти. А уж если нарвётесь на скидку, которые наверняка скоро появятся, берите и не задумывайтесь.

My experience after using 3 years
After using more than three years: The most valuable things which they're surprised me during these years: battery life, Display screen and 6 megabytes of RAM. I'm usually playing more than 2 hours games a day with my device and have any problem with. The camera is really superb in days but at nights decrease in quality. The speaker is not Dual [stereo]. This device is light weight in fact because of plastic Case. This material could be a negative point. The adapter is fast charging technology which means only take 1 hour to get full from 0 to 100.
3 AÑOS CON EL MOVIL AVERIADO
Siempre he sido de samsung, eso sí gama alta tipo note pero por cor instancias tuve que comprar este en 2019. En principio es un gama media suficiente para un usuarioedko no muy exigente, el problema viene cuando en apenas 1 mes el teléfono dejó de funcionar todo lo relativo al multimedia, ni altavoces ni micrófono, ni graba vídeos, ni reproduce en condiciones vídeos de ningún sitio etc. Con lo cual llevo más de 2 años camino de 3 con un móvil con el que no puedo ni realizar llamadas ni que me las hagan porque no oigo ni me oyen, ni puedo ver videos si no lo enlazo con un altavoz Bluetooth, no puedo poner unos auriculares, ni puedo escuchar audios ni enviarlos, etc. En fin, he aprendido a vivir con ello pero es una putada gorda. El resto es un ien teelefon, buena, pantalla, cámara aceptable, batería aceptable ya después de más de 2 años se nota su desgaste etc, pero vamos el móvil si no se le estropea lo que tengo estropeado, es un bien móvil. Y diréis ¿porque no lo llevaste a arreglar en garantía? Pues porque me lo ponían a fábrica me hacían un reset y no podía, permitirme el lujo de perder más de 120 gb de información, solo por eso.

В 2019 году компания Samsung решила дать «бой» среднебюджетным смартфонам из Китая, выпустив модель Samsung Galaxy A50, которая стала настоящим хитом продаж, в том числе в России.
Корейцы решили не останавливаться на достигнутом и ближе к концу прошлого года представили новый девайс под заголовком А51. Смартфон получил заметные изменения как по части дизайна, так и в плане технических характеристик, но достаточно ли этого, чтобы приобрести данный аппарат? Мы решили провести для вас небольшое сравнение смартфонов Samsung Galaxy A50 и Galaxy A51 с целью помочь вам понять, стоит новинка своих денег или есть смысл отдать предпочтение прошлогоднему хиту.
Экран
Обе модели получили дисплеи с фирменной Super AMOLED-матрицей и максимальной контрастностью. Однако уже в экране кроются первые отличия «Самсунг А50» от А51 – в новинке диагональ подросла с 6,4 дюйма до 6,5 дюйма, а яркость экрана была увеличена с 551 кд/м2 до 636 кд/м2.
Изменилась и выемка под фронтальную камеру, теперь вместо «капли» используется аккуратный «вырез», что придает Galaxy A51 большей изящности.
Производительность
Если сравнить модели «Самсунг Гэлакси А50» и «Гэлакси А51» по части производительности, то результаты могут слегка удивить. В качестве аппаратной основы используются схожие процессоры Exynos 9610 и Exynos 9611, однако формально отличие более свежего чипа от предшественника заключается в поддержке более высокого разрешения основной камеры.
Согласно синтетическим тестам в AnTuTu, результат Samsung Galaxy A51 составляет 113051 балл, тогда как у Galaxy A50 – 144574 балла. Уступает новинка и в тестах графики GFX Manhattan. Таким образом напрашивается вывод, что хит продаж прошлого года по производительности выглядит предпочтительнее своего «потомка».
Показатели автономности
Сравнение смартфонов Samsung Galaxy A51 и Galaxy A50 было бы неполноценным без оценки показателей автономности. Оба устройства оборудованы аккумуляторами на 4000 мАч с поддержкой комплектной зарядки мощностью 15 Вт.
Как известно, мобильные телефоны по-разному разряжаются в зависимости от сценариев использования, поэтому рассматривать нужно несколько вариантов эксплуатации:
- A50 в режиме разговора может проработать до 24 часов от одного заряда, тогда как у А51 этот показатель немного не дотягивает до 22 часов;
- При веб-серфинге лучше себя проявляет более свежая модель – 13 часов против 12 часов;
- Сравнение А50 и А51 в режиме воспроизведения видео говорит о том, что преимущество на стороне первого с разницей примерно в 1,5 часа.
Резюмируя этот пункт, стоит отметить, что по части автономности с небольшим перевесом побеждает Samsung Galaxy A50.
Камеры
Одним из главных нововведений в А51 стало использование свежего сенсора с разрешением 48 Мп с возможностью съемки 4К-видео против 25-мегапиксельного датчика, установленного в А50.
В плане фотосъемки при условиях нормального освещения результаты во многом будут схожими, разве что А51 делает более теплый кадр, приближенный к естественному. Зато при ночной съемке разница между двумя камерами будет куда более существенной. Нельзя сказать, что Galaxy A51 поражает каким-то запредельным качеством снимков при плохой освещенности, но на фоне результатов A50 он демонстрирует намного больше деталей при меньшем количестве шумов.
Дополнительные камеры вряд ли окажут какое-то влияние на выбор смартфона, так как широкоугольный объектив с разрешением 8 Мп в обоих случаях одинаковый, сенсор глубины установлен скорее для количества датчиков, а макрообъектив – специфическое приспособление, которому редко находится применение в реальной жизни.
Что лучше «Самсунг Гэлакси А50» или «Гэлакси А51»
Негласное соревнование «Samsung A50 vs A51» не дает четкого ответа на вопрос: «Какой из смартфонов лучше?». На стороне первого более солидная автономность, лучшая производительность и низкая цена. В качестве преимуществ А51 можно выделить улучшенную камеру, возможность съемки видео в формате 4К, увеличенный дисплей со стильным вырезом под селфи-камеру и наличие 10-го «Андроида» в изначальной конфигурации. Чтобы определиться с выбором, стоит расставить приоритеты среди озвученных преимуществ и купить именно тот смартфон, который отвечает вашим индивидуальным запросам.

You miss out on the design and camera, but the 25MP shooter on the A50 is still pretty good in 2020, and you’re getting much better value here.

Samsung is known for incremental updates — particularly in the mid-range segment — and that’s broadly the case with the Galaxy A50 and A51. The Galaxy A51 debuted earlier this year with slight design tweaks and a better camera, but the fundamentals are largely unchanged from last year’s A50. With so many similarities between the two devices, let’s take a look and see if you’re better off picking up last year’s model for $100 less.
The Galaxy A51 has exciting upgrades that you’ll care about
When I reviewed the Galaxy A50 last year, I called it one of the best phones Samsung released at $300. The Exynos 9610 chipset excelled at regular everyday use and extended bouts of gaming, and the 4000mAh battery easily lasted over a day without any issues whatsoever.
A year later, Samsung debuted the Galaxy A51 with largely unchanged internals. The phone has a new design and a camera with a higher-resolution sensor, but for the most part, this is the same phone as the Galaxy A50. As such, it doesn’t quite hold up to its rivals in 2020. The hardware hasn’t aged well, and with One UI 2.0, in particular, you will see the occasional lag in mundane tasks like browsing the web or scrolling through social media.

Let’s break down the list of features so you get a better idea of what’s going on with the Galaxy A51. The phone has a striking new design that’s more in line with the Galaxy A50s mid-cycle refresh last year. The back is broken into quadrants with subtle shifts in color, and there’s also an iridescent pattern that is quite striking. The Galaxy A50 has a gradient finish at the back as well, but the design of the A51 makes it look much more upmarket.
The A51 also has the same rectangular camera housing as the Galaxy S20 series, with Samsung opting to use the same aesthetic across all of its 2020 devices. While the design itself is new, the Galaxy A51 features a polycarbonate back, just like its predecessor.
Upfront, the Galaxy A51 has a hole-punch cutout — once again similar to the Galaxy S20 series — and significantly thinner bezels. The waterdrop cutout on the A50 isn’t distracting either, but the device has uneven bezels. The A51 looks sleeker, and the thin bezels have allowed Samsung to fit a marginally larger 6.5-inch screen on the A51 without increasing the dimensions. The Galaxy A50, meanwhile, has a 6.4-inch screen. The panel itself is great, with vibrant colors and great sunlight visibility.
You’re primarily buying the Galaxy A51 for the 48MP camera at the back and the 32MP lens upfront.
The Exynos 9611 on the Galaxy A51 is near-identical to the Exynos 9610 on the Galaxy A50. There’s no difference in the cores, with the newer chipset facilitating the 48MP camera module at the back. The memory and storage options are also unchanged, with the base variant of the Galaxy A51 offering 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. For what it’s worth, you do get a MicroSD slot, and the 3.5mm jack is intact.
Continuing with the hardware, both phones feature the same 4,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging, and you easily get over a day’s worth of use regardless of how hard you push either device. You also get Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi ac, and NFC, but there’s no Samsung Pay here.
Things get more interesting on the camera front. The Galaxy A51 features a 48MP f/2.0 primary camera, giving it a distinct advantage over the 25MP lens on the Galaxy A50. The A51 takes better photos in daylight, and while low-light shots aren’t on the same level as what you get with the Pixel 3a series, the camera as a whole is better than the A50. You also get a more versatile 12MP f/2.2 wide-angle lens, and there’s a 5MP macro lens thrown in for good measure. The macro lens is unusable for most scenarios, but it is there if you’re interested in taking photos of objects from just 4cm away.
Then there’s the software. The Galaxy A51 launched with One UI 2.0 based on Android 10 out of the box. The Galaxy A50, meanwhile, is just now starting to receive the update, with Samsung initiating the global rollout at the end of April. It will take several weeks before the update is available to all A50 units globally.
If you want to get the Android 12 update, you’ll have to pick up the Galaxy A51.
There’s no difference when it comes to the software features, but because the Galaxy A51 is newer and comes with Android 10 out of the box, it will receive the update to Android 12 once that becomes available. Samsung has done a decent job rolling out two platform updates to its mid-range phones, with the Galaxy A7 (2018) — which launched on Oreo — picking up Android 10 a few months ago.
Although Samsung takes its time to roll out updates, it has consistently managed to deliver them to most of the devices in its portfolio, and that’s more than you can say about the rest of the industry. So what this means is that if you’re picking up the Galaxy A50 now, you will only get one more guaranteed platform update to Android 11 sometime next year. So you have to factor that into your purchasing decision.
You can’t go wrong with either phone
Because the Galaxy A51 and the A50 share the same fundamentals, they’re very similar in day-to-day use. The A51 has a more upmarket look thanks to the design, and the 48MP camera does make a difference.
Get the Galaxy A51 if you want a better camera; otherwise, the A50 still has a lot to offer.
But the internal hardware itself is the same across both phones, and that means a few features are standard across either device: you get a fantastic screen, great battery life, and One UI 2.0. If you are looking to save $100, the Galaxy A50 still has a lot going for it in 2020.
The main reason to choose the A51 is the camera, and the fact that it will get updated to Android 12. The A50 will also get two platform updates, but because it launched over a year ago and already made the switch to Android 10, it will get just one more update to Android 11. So the $100 difference between the phones comes down to the fact that you’re getting an additional software update, a better camera, and a more modern design aesthetic. It’s worth the premium.
